Live Basil Pizza (Denver, Los Angeles)

Wait, basil? Like the plant? I mean, I knew pizza was a vegetable, but I usually don’t like actual leaves on my pizza. Don’t worry, because Live Basil Pizza is awesome!

If you live in Denver, you've probably seen these store popping up around town, typically nearby your local SmashBurger (They were started by the same guy). YOU DEFINITELY NEED TO CHECK IT OUT. Their approach to pizza is much closer to an Italian style margherita pizza than your traditional American pizza chain.

They have thin-crust, personal-sized pizzas and they have some of the highest quality ingredients I have ever tasted. The crust is charred  just a little bit, it’s not greasy at all, and everything tastes very fresh. They actually claim to be “The Freshest Pizza You’ll Ever Eat,” and I’m inclined to agree. There are lots of different options for cheese, and they're all really good; you got fresh mozzarella, whole milk ricotta, Parmesan, Italian, and even goat cheese! The sauce:cheese ratio tips a little toward the sauce side, but the sauce is fantastic so... you know, good to go.

Here's a picture of the pizza I got: The Hot One

I thought the pricing was excellent considering the quality of the food. Pretty much every pizza is $8.45 or under, which is really nice if you like to get a lot of toppings. The only toppings that cost more are extra cheeses.

The size of the pizza is perfect too. It fills you up, but doesn't over stuff you. Of course, that’s subjective, but to give you a reference, I’m a 3-4 slice man when it comes to a large delivery pizza.

I felt pretty good afterwards, and not just emotionally. If I was the type of person to engage in physical activity, I would feel comfortable doing so after eating Live Basil Pizza.

Head on over to their website to see where you can find the closest location to you! livebasilpizza.com
